The COOSC Management Committee is made up of parents of children who use the Centre. The Committee meets once a month – usually on the last Thursday of the month at 6:30pm, in the COOSC offices. Committee members may bring their children to the meetings.
The responsibilities of the committee are as follows:
- Determine COOSC’s aims and objectives
- Strategic Planning
- Formulate Policy
- Approve and monitor the services and programming
- Ensure financial stability
- Provide fiscal oversight and sound risk management
- Select and support the (senior) staff, and review their performance
- Understand and respect the relationship between the committee and the staff
- Act as a responsible employer
- Enhance COOSC’s public image
- Select and induct new members
- Conduct efficient committee meetings
- Respect confidentiality
The role of the Management Committee is one of responsibility, trust
and strategic planning to ensure the effective management of the
organization. Apart from the office bearers, a number of parent
representatives participate on the committee.

Treasurer
| Accounting experience is needed for this role. The service employs an
in-house administration officer and monthly accounts are prepared by an
external provider.
The accounts are audited on an annual basis and signed off at the AGM.
- Present accounts, financial statements and budgets to the committee at the monthly meetings

Ensure financial viability of the organization and monitor
financial resources to ensure they are adequate to meet the
organisation’s present and future needs

Ensure financial procedures and control are in place

Liaise with Centre Coordinator and Admin officer on financial matters

Ensure accounts are prepared, disclosed and submitted to relevant bodies

Act as the Association’s Public Officer

Parent reps
| - Website: maintains the website, uploading holiday programmes, policy docs and other pdf documents

Policy: ensures that existing policy document are regularly
checked and updated as needed, bringing changes to the committee

Staff liaison: Assists with recruitment of senior staff,
troubleshoots any issues and mentors the Centre Coordinator in an HR
capacity

Communications: Writes the twice-yearly newsletter and
edits written communications for the Centre Coordinator, undertakes
centre surveys every 2-3 years.

Resources: project manages any capital works undertaken,
seeks quotes for purchase of large equipment, presents costs and plans
to the Committee.

has done an excellent job over the past three years and are now ready
to hand over to a new group. COOSC is in good financial shape, has

quality accreditation. Incoming members with experience in HR,
Management, Marketing, Childcare, Finance or any other relevant skills
